Searching is the foremost step! – HOW TO DO THAT??

Prepare a list of different job titles you are interested in to help you find job openings as per your preferences, expectations, qualities, qualifications and interests.

It is essential to have an effective job search plan before you begin to look for a new job. You can either follow a Traditional search approach or Targeted search approach.

In Traditional approach you may apply for jobs in many organizations that have job openings that are suitable as per your career goals. The companies advertise these vacancies in Newspapers, Websites, Placement-Employment Agencies-Recruiters, Job-Fairs etc.

Targeted search applies when you want to take employment in a particular Company and there might be possibility that the Company have not advertised any job opening. Then through Company websites or Networking or Referrals or Cold calling you can approach for job in the particular company for future references.

Let’s discuss each of the above sources of job-search in detail.

  • COMPANY WEBSITES & CAREER /JOB SITES:-

Company websites: In today’s society, which is based on the latest technology, many businesses have online websites. These websites are designed basically from customers point of view but they can also be of use as job -seeker. A standard internet search should lead you to websites where that company is mentioned and often will connect you to that company’s online website, should they have one. When examining the online website of a company that you would like to apply to, you will first want to search for any information on employment or careers. This section, if there is one, may provide you with more information on the positions that are currently open in your area. You may find more detailed information, such as salary and job requirements, than you would in a traditional job posting. In fact, you may even find that you are able to submit your job application or your resume online! there are a number of benefits to taking the time to examine a company website before officially submitting your resume or job application.

Career/Job websites: Websites that deals specifically with employment or careers where job-seekers can easily contact an extensive collection of job vacancies through job search engines are called as Job Sites or Job Portals or Employment Website or Job Board. Most Job Portals have filters which help users slight down results  for job seekers to decide on a specific career. Job Portals offer a full collection of job choices from top companies. It means you have a superior chance of searching the job you want Instead of going to your intention firm, you can submit your resume online. After submitting, you can relax, and wait for your future employers to take action and it saves your precious time so that you can get involved in other productive work.

The biggest advantage of job fairs is that you get the opportunity to meet multiple Employers at one time and one place.You can interact with the Recruiters and share important information.The best part is that you get an immediate response for the job application.

Here you get the chance to meet and speak one to one with many company representatives and even if you do not land to the interview there are many options which serves as confidence boosters. There is no room for partiality or personal preferences and thus becomes a genuine proposition to look for job.

  • RECRUITERS & HEAD HUNTERS:-
  1. They help you get you job.
  2. They will help you in preparing Resume and how to highlight your skills and strengths. They offer honest feedback to your drafts.
  3. They save your precious time. You are in the job search data base and have access to more job opportunities
  4. They help you through the process and network through a larger scale.
  5. They know the insight of the business and what the organization is looking for.
  6. They provide tips for the interview and also help you in negotiating salary .
  7. They generally work on commission so the more they get you on salary ;the more commission they can earn .

Try finding a Professional Recruiter or Head Hunter who have in-depth knowledge and experience in their field that will higher your chances of selection.

  • REFERRALS:-

While Referrals don’t guarantee you a job, they can increase the chances of your application being seen by a Recruiter or Hiring Manager and ultimately give you a boost in the hiring process. An Employee Referral is essentially an endorsement within a potential employer of you and your talents for a specific position. One can find that in any organizations there are more employees referred through a Higher level than those referred  through Entry levels. If you do know Top-level Executives, reach out to them first. The more Senior the person referring you, the better your chances of getting hired. Referring is also very beneficial for the organization as it reduces and saves time as compared from any other source and is very cost effective and improves quality of hire.

  • COLD CALLING:-

You want to get a suitable job in a Preferred Organization due to your personal and professional choices. But the same organization has not advertised any vacancy and you still want to approach them for future prospects .Using your initiatives and contacting them is known as Cold Calling .The job-seekers generally fear and are reluctant using this means. Cold calling is not unprofessional or inappropriate, but of course it needs to be executed correctly. This can be said as Uninvited job hunting.This allows you to reach new potentials. This is generally practiced when one finds that market of jobs is almost closed and no other door is open.The cold calling can be done by sending Emails or Talking on Phone or Meeting Personally depending on feasible situations and circumstances.

RESEARCHING -The company

  • Be clear of what you are looking from  the Job you want to apply-Your expectations ,your values ,your goals ,your culture and the environment.
  • Understand the type of Company you want to work for.
  • Then look for the companies that shares the same values ,culture  and the environment
  • Find out that the goals of yours be able to get achieved while working with the Company you want to apply for.
  • Always set aside the time necessary for proper research.
  • Research for Employee benefits that Company provides.
  • Research about the Company’s Leadership, Operations etc.
  • Research to News,Current Events, News Stories, Business Journals of that Company
  • Always try to get opinions from the Networking-Trusted/ Reliable/ Friends/ Associates.

At different points in life, you may find yourself in need of a new job. This opportunity can arise from various scenarios, whether you want to leave your current job to pursue a passion or were recently laid off from a job.
